Where it began

So back in 2018, my family went on a road trip, from Nevada, to Utah, and finally Arizona. During this time, we had a lot of downtime in the rental van. This was because my dad was driving for so long, as it would take hours to get to somewhere. We ended up going to places such as the Grand canyon, but my favorite was the Antelope canyon, which just had some sort of unique look to it. My sister had a crazy idea during one of those car rides. That idea was getting a dog. Maybe it wasn't as crazy as it sounded, but to us, it was a new thing that was kind of joking but also serious. Plus, we had never really had a pet, besides some koi fish we got from our uncle before. This idea was spreadout through my two siblings and parents, but we didn't really do anything about it. After a year, an incident popped up, and we started to look for a dog at the Long Beach Animal Care Services. We were looking for a medium size dog, and checked a couple of them out, including a german shepherd, a border collie, and a extremely loud husky. They were all relatively calm, except the husky(way too energetic and loud). We kept looking around, but to no avail, we arrived home with no dog. About a week later, we went back, and looked at more. It was at that point when my sister stomped her foot, and yelled in fustration, "I want a dog now!" My parents laughed, and we took the first dog that my sister laid eyes on, a black german shepherd that had a sliver of white on his chest.

So after we got our dog, there was a lot of work to do. We decided to change his foster name from Samson, to Jax(my dad chose it, kind of weird). For example, we had to potty-train this guy. He was pulling off #1s and #2 in the most random spots, like one time he literally went on the rocks. Eventually though, he learned over time that it was probably just best to do his business on the grass. Which was another thing we had to do. Every week, my two sisters and I would pick up his things and bag it up, and chuck it into the black bin. This was kind of annoying, especially when my sisers would forget to actually do it. Thankfully, it didn't take them long to get it, because my mom scolded them for not doing it.
